Kidepo Valley National Park
The most frequently used route while heading to Kidepo is via Mbale and Moroto, the latter the regional capital of northeast Uganda. While driving to Kidepo, two other routes can be used to reach Kidepo Valley National Park the only place to find the Karamajong’s manyattas. Driving to Kidepo, you can apass through Gulu and another route through Lira. Kidepo park headquarters can also be accessed via Moroto route.
As you drive to Kidepo, the most commonly used route is via Soroti however, this is 50kms longer, on driving to Kidepo using public transport it takes more than two hours to get from Mbale to Soroti by bus or minibus. Should you get to Soroti by noon while driving to Kidepo, continue to Moroto before it gets late, once in Moroto, we recommended to take a break should you be not used to spending long hours of driving.
From Moroto in to Kidepo National Park is estimated to be 250Km, and the drive will take the best part of the day. You drive to Kidepo will take you through via Kotido in to Kaabong for another 95km northwards. Arriving Kaabong is almost to Kidepo National Park
